I paint these smaller sketches in series — usually in batches of two, four, or six, working on them simultaneously. Moving paint from one to the other using the same technique, brushstrokes, and colours, without worrying too much about where or how the paint lands.

I work with a subject using purely intuition, rarely using a reference, changing only the composition of each painting. This method encourages me to paint more freely, intuitively, and without chasing perfection.

These smaller paintings look wonderful in a crisp white frame.
